How a simple observation in a rice mill led to a revolution in sustainable tableware.
Every year, millions of tons of rice husk are produced as a byproduct of rice milling. With little economic value, much of this is burned in open fields, releasing massive amounts of CO2 and particulate matter into the air we breathe.
We saw not waste, but opportunity. Nature had already designed the perfect protective shell—water-resistant, durable, and abundant.
Husk & Hull was born from the idea that we can create beautiful, functional objects without taking more from the earth.
By collecting husks from local mills and binding them with natural plant-based resins, we create a material that feels like ceramic but is lighter, shatter-resistant, and completely non-toxic.
